The Sunflower Program offers specialized care to parents who are anticipating the birth of a baby with any complex, life-threatening condition. Our team of physicians, nurses, social workers, chaplains and grief counselors work collaboratively with you and your existing medical team to assure that your family feels supported in this difficult journey.
Our mission is to support you and your loved ones before, during and after the birth of your precious child by offering specialized medical, social, and emotional support.
What We Do:
- Meet you and your loved ones to share an understanding of your baby’s condition and your goals for your baby’s care.
- Assist you in developing a birth plan that supports your goals and values.
- Provide education on options for the care of your baby after birth.
- Collaborate with your other medical providers to assure your goals for care are known and supported.
- Provide emotional and spiritual support for you, your partner or spouse, your other children (baby’s siblings), your parents (baby’s grandparents), and any others in your circle of support.
- Support you in memory-making experiences to honor your baby’s life.
- Facilitate your child’s admission to Sunflower Pediatric hospice, if appropriate.
- Provide bereavement support and resources.
