Paying for Care

- Hospice Care:
- For those who carry health insurance, hospice care is a covered benefit. Children up to age 21 who have Medicaid or Children’s Health Insurance Plan (CHIP) coverage may also enact their hospice benefit alongside curative or disease-directed treatments, which is known as “concurrent hospice care.” While “concurrent care” is not guaranteed through private insurers, it may be considered on a case-by-case basis.
- For those who do not carry health insurance, Hospice & Community Care is committed to providing this important care. Between a fee-reduction program and generous community support, patients and families will be cared for regardless of their ability to pay.
- Palliative Care:
- Most insurances do reimburse for palliative care provider home visits (e.g. physician or nurse practitioner). While currently there are no comprehensive home-based palliative care benefits to cover the cost of other palliative care services, such as nursing, social work, chaplaincy or complementary therapies, Hospice & Community care is committed to providing these important services free of charge.
- For patients without health insurance, Hospice & Community Care is committed to providing this much needed care. Between a fee-reduction program and generous community support, all patients and families can access this important care regardless of ability to pay.
