Inpatient Residential Care

Residential care is offered for patients with a limited prognosis of approximately weeks to a month for 24/7 care provided by a Hospice nurse and aide, with additional support from a social worker, chaplain or physician if needed, in collaboration with patients’ attending physician. Volunteers may also provide support. Patients’ symptoms are under control and they may need assistance with personal care, such as eating, toileting and bathing.

The Inpatient Center has 24 private rooms, eight that are dedicated to residential care patients, and is designed to be a home away from home with bright, comfortable rooms and plenty of space for family and friends to gather. The Inpatient Center is open 24 hours a day for visitors, and features living rooms and fully equipped kitchens so patients and their families can spend time together in a pleasant environment.

Who provides care to residential patients and families?

What is the visitation policy?

Are meals available for patients?

Yes, there is a daily meal option available for patients. We welcome families to bring food to the Center and gather for a meal in our family kitchens; nearby restaurants are also available.

Must residential care patients stay at the Bob Fryer & Family Inpatient through end of life?

Patients may transfer home or to a senior living facility at any time during their stay.

Who pays for care provided through the Residential Care Program?

Patients and families pay out-of-pocket for room and board with care being covered by Medicare, Medicaid and most private insurance. Hospice & Community Care provides a fee reduction for those who qualify.

What happens if my loved one’s care needs fluctuate while at the Bob Fryer & Family Inpatient Center?

Patients may transition within the Center if or when a higher level of care is needed to manage challenging symptoms without having to move from one facility to another.
